Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has some advice for Ron DeSantis regarding his 2024 presidential run — it’s not your time.
Palin offered guidance in an interview with Newsmax host Eric Bolling.
“DeSantis doesn’t need to [run]. I will make him our president one day but not now,” he said. “He should be governor some day. He’s young, you know. He has decades ahead of him to become our president.
Palin believes former President Donald Trump has the best chance of capturing the GOP nomination for president and hinted that any challenges to her front-runner status would be foolish.
“When you talk about specific people, individual people who are looking to put their hat in the ring … they have a lot of guts to think they’re going to go up against Trump,” he argues.

From Sarah Palin to DeSantis in 2024 — Sit this one out
With much talk of a 2024 presidential election, Sarah Palin is being angled for the role of vice president alongside Trump, contrary to what many believed to be the conservative dream pairing of the former president and DeSantis.

“Trump needs to pick someone who has nothing to lose like him,” she suggested, an apt description of Palin. “What can they do to that person, either personally or verbally, or attack the family or anything else?”
“That person has come through the winger, so they know what they’re getting into. And that person can focus on doing what’s right for people.

Democrats, the media and even some Republicans — famously turned Palin down when she was chosen as the late Senator John McCain’s running mate in 2008.
The media’s brutal portrayal of her as a fool has left a lasting mark even today.

Palin/Trump 2024?
In the interview, Bolling asked Palin if she was describing him as a suitable candidate to run alongside Trump in 2024.
“No need,” she laughed.
“However, I tell you, the chance I run into someone who is not commonsense [of a] I think the majority of Republicans are constitutional conservatives, but in a race, there’s still an opportunity to form such a team in service to America — oh my goodness, there’s not much respect, there’s not much chance. It said DeSantis should think twice before accepting Palin’s political advice.
In McCain’s final book before his death, he regretted choosing Palin as his running mate and wished he had chosen Joe Lieberman instead. Apparently, McCain thought adding a vanilla running mate to his already vanilla campaign would help.
He lost regardless, because McCain was a weaker candidate to run against Barack Obama.
Sen. Does Sarah Palin hurt to hear that John McCain wants Joe Lieberman to be his presidential nominee?

In 2022 Palin lost elections to represent Alaska’s at-large congressional district — one in a special election and another for a full term — despite Trump’s endorsement.
A recent Monmouth poll shows Trump and DeSantis as the leading choices among Republican voters for the GOP nomination in 2024.
Several other polls, however, show Trump with a clear advantage over the Florida governor, but both are light years ahead of any other challenger, including Nikki Haley, who recently launched her own campaign.
