Peruvian President Dina Boluvarte has called for a national ceasefire after violent protests erupted in the country’s capital, Lima.
Protests are taking place across Peru and dozens of people have died.
Demonstrations began in the country in December when left-wing former president Pedro Castillo was impeached.
Mr. Castillo’s supporters are calling for his release from prison, where he faces charges of rebellion and conspiracy.
In a televised address on Tuesday, President Boluvarte said the protests had caused $1.3b (£1.56b) in damage to infrastructure and production.
