The committee assignments come after MAGA representatives Marjorie Taylor Green and Paul Gosar were ousted from the Democrat-controlled House in 2021.
That’s a promise new House Speaker Kevin McCarthy made and now keeps.
Green (R-GA) sits on the House Homeland Security and Oversight Committees while Gosar (R-AZ) sits on the House Natural Resources and Oversight Committees.
Gosar’s assignments are basically reinstated to the committees he served on before his removal.
Green’s roles are varied, however, as he previously served on the Education and Labor Committee and the Budget Committee.
The Georgia lawmaker immediately celebrated his new role and vowed to “investigate Biden Violations of the administration of our laws and funding (and reimbursement) programs to protect our borders and American sovereignty.

The move to reinstate Green and Gosar to House committees comes just days after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy suggested he would remove the representatives. From the main characters.
Both Schiff and Swalwell served on the House Intelligence Committee, with the former serving as chairman. Swalwell also had a role on the Homeland Security Committee. Omar served on the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
Think about that for a minute – Marjorie Taylor Green is essentially replacing Swalwell on the Homeland Security Committee.
What a great sign for the new Congress: firing a man with ties to a Chinese spy at Homeland Security and replacing him with America’s first congresswoman.
Swalwell must be beside himself.

Green and Goser are back
Some have speculated that the committee assignments to lawmakers on the right of the political spectrum may have been a concession by McCarthy in order to secure the Speaker’s gal.
In reality, he is suggesting that Green and Gosar be reinstated for a while.
“They will have committees,” McCarthy vowed back in November 2021. “He may have other committee assignments.”
In fact, he added, “They might have better Tasks of the Committee.”
In Green’s case at least, the promise of a ‘better’ committee seems to have materialized.

Democrats took the unusual step a year ago of removing Green and Gosher from their House committee assignments for very specific reasons.
Gosar was removed for posting a parody cartoon showing an anime version of him attacking President Biden and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. No serious person considered it a deep threat. Because it was a Japanese cartoon. with swords.
But Democrats, along with Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney, voted to remove him from the committee. Kinzinger now works for CNN, and Cheney lost her primary.
Green was removed from committee assignments over social media posts he made first for election to his office.
Both engaged in inappropriate behavior, but nothing that warranted discipline. The Democrats did it simply out of spite and they weren’t afraid to use their power. And now they sit on their hands and fume the fact that Greene and Gosar are back.
I was the first to say impeach Biden and the first to introduce the articles of impeachment.
We will start our investigation soon.
My advice to Joe: resign now and leave BC. We are going to show the world the depth of your corruption and how you have abused your power. https://t.co/AgljzFr8uA

CNN notes that Reps. Lauren Bobert of Colorado and Scott Perry of Pennsylvania were added to the House Oversight Committee, a significant win for America First lawmakers.
“The addition of hardliners gives the Biden administration the ability to frame some of the most aggressive investigations,” writes CNN.
One can only hope so.
