For the first time since May 2021, an active duty military member has been arrested in connection with a protest in Washington, DC on January 6, 2021, the last arrest of an active duty military member was Marine Corps Maj. Christopher Varnagiris. Major Varangiris was an artillery officer at the time of his arrest and reportedly continued to work at the Training and Education Command at the Marine base in Quantico, Va., when he was released on his own recognizance.
The Marine Corps previously issued a statement about Major Warnagiris, and according to a brief segment on Military.com he chose to post in his announcement:
The Marine Corps … said “[they are] This much is clear: There is no place for racial hatred or extremism in the Marine Corps.
“Bigotry and racial extremism are against our core values,” the statement added.
I am sure there is more to this statement. Still full. But Military.com chose to publish it. This deliberately chosen statement is ironic because there absolutely is No reference “Racial hatred,” “bigotry,” or “racial extremism” Anywhere In the charging documents of Major Varangiris, but the Marine Corps, my beloved Corps, Throws Major under the bus with such a divisive, misleading statement that has nothing to do with his accusation..

Fast forward to current and now 3 active duty Marine arrests: Corporal Micah Coomer, Sergeant Joshua AbateAnd Sergeant Dodge Dale Halonen.
According to Military.com:
All three Marines arrested two years after the attack worked in jobs connected to the intelligence community.
Each was charged with willfully entering a restricted building, two counts of disorderly conduct and parading or picketing within the US Capitol.
The three Marines spent just under an hour wandering about the Capitol, including inside the Rotunda. Charging documents state that inside the rotunda, he “put a red MAGA hat on one of the statues to take a photo with it.” Terrible.
Corporal Coomer posted a picture to Instagram where he said he was “happy to be a part of history”. The image and statement led to a search warrant for his social media accounts.
If the three Marines did not “knowingly enter” they found no barricades in place or were waived into the Capitol by the Capitol Police, were there hundreds or perhaps thousands of others?
How does the US government justify a warrant that violates their 4th amendment rights for a wrong that so many others have defeated in court? “Show me the man and I’ll show you the crime.”
As if it wasn’t bad enough that the Marine Corps and Military.com threw Major Warangiri under the bus for “racial hatred,” “bigotry,” and “racial extremism,” Military.com has now done the same with these gentlemen:
In a chat with another Instagram user in the weeks after the siege, court documents say Coomer told the unidentified man that “everything in this country is corrupt. We honestly need a fresh start. I’m waiting for Boogaloo. When another person asked what “Boogaloo” was, Coomer said “Civil War 2.”
The Boogaloo movement is broadly anti-government but advocates violence with the use of the word “Boogaloo”. Common slang for a future race war. However, some experts Like the Anti-Defamation League“Most of the Bangaloreans Not white supremacistsAlthough White supremacy can be seen within the movement.“
Here’s the only mention of “future race war” in an analysis by the hard left-leaning ADL cited by Military.com:
“Specifically, in 2019-20 white supremacists used or promoted the use of the term “boogaloo”—including some catalyzing white supremacists who used it in the context of a future race war— Most of them did not become part of the movement.“
So Military.com chose to use only a specific portion of the Marine Corps statement that cited “racial hatred,” “bigotry” and “racial extremism” to describe Major Warnagiris. There are no such claims against MajorNow these three enlisted men are being described as “boogaloores” trying to incite a “future race war”, but the only people who used the term “future race war” were white supremacists. He was not part of the movement.
Shame on Military.com for their shameless, defamatory reporting.
