NDC Director of Legal Affairs Abraham Amaliba described Brian Acheampong’s statement as an insult to the constitution and a threat to Ghana’s security.
Abraham Amaliba, who spoke at a press conference after appealing to the Ghana Police Service, urged the police to arrest Brian Acheampong immediately.
“We were at the CID office to submit to the CID boss, a petition calling on the department to arrest, investigate and prosecute Agriculture Minister Brian Acheampong for the uncivil comments he made during the Easter break. You know he, in a viral video, said that the NPP will not hand over power to the NDC. And as lawyers, we feel that his comments on that day threaten national security and national security.
As advocates, we feel that the police administration should be interested in this matter. As stakeholders in this democratic system, we do not sit idly by one person to pass comments that bring unrest in this country. The CID chief assured that necessary action would be taken. He said.

“That is, in the estimation of your petitioner and the public, the statements made by Brian Acheampong can be interpreted as a grand plan by the NPP to subvert the will of the people of Ghana in the 2024 elections. Any attempt to oppose them will be met with violence.
Addressing party supporters at Empreso on Saturday, April 8, Mr. Acheampong said the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) will never hand over power to the opposition NDC in 2025.
