The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has seen a flat statement signed by the Secretary General of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) over comments made by Abetifi Constituency MP and Minister of Food and Agriculture Brian Acheampong while addressing some. Party supporters in the Eastern region describing the NDC as traitors.
The NPP finds the statement by the NDC to be unfounded, hypocritical, illogical and baseless, lacking contextual substance for use by discerning Ghanaians who have not ignored the mechanism of the main opposition party in deliberately demonizing it. And a mischievous slant to innocuous comments such as those made by Members of Parliament for their own selfish political interests.
“Since the NDC does not appreciate Brian’s message and pretends not to decode it logically, we will educate him again as we have done on many occasions. For the avoidance of doubt. Honorable Brian Acheampang was responding to John Dramani, NDC’s permanent flag bearer. On many occasions the 2024 general elections are “do or don’t” for the NDC. Mahama painted, in fact, it is no secret that the NDC has always resorted to violence and intimidation against their opponents in the general elections, and this is epitomized by their 2024 presumptive presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama. Secretary General Justin Kodua said in a statement signed by Frimpong.
According to the NPP, John Mahama said: “The NDC has revolutionary origins and when it comes to unleashing violence, no one can defeat us [NDC] In Eliminating Violence”.
He said other prominent members of the NDC, including the party’s national chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, had made similar threatening and malicious comments.
The NPP considers the NDC’s attack on Brian Acheampong unnecessary but draws attention with a vicious attempt to emotionally blackmail Ghanaians into court for their support.
“As above, John Dramani Mahama and his brazen declaration that NDC members are willing to sacrifice their lives to win the 2024 general elections if the police should arrest anyone for seditious comments, John Dramani Mahama and his brazenness in reference to the 2024 general elections. he added.
