Police in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh are searching for a woman who opened fire at her wedding.
A video on social media showed the woman sitting next to her husband firing four rounds into the air.
The local police said that they have registered a case against the woman who went missing after the incident.
Celebratory gunfire during weddings is common in some North Indian states and often results in injuries and accidental deaths.
According to Indian law, anyone who uses a firearm “in a rash or negligent manner or in celebratory firing” endangering others faces imprisonment or a fine or both.
In 2016, a court in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, had ordered that every case of celebratory firing should be investigated despite a police complaint.
According to the Times of India newspaper, the bride’s video was recorded by relatives, who posted it on social media.
Police told the newspaper that the woman was “on the run” out of fear of arrest.
Last week, a viral video from the western state of Maharashtra showed a bride and her husband shooting a flash gun in the bride’s face as she posed for wedding photos.
