On Saturday, Mr Acheampong addressed party supporters in Empreso, saying the ruling New Patriotic Party will never hand over power to the opposition NDC in 2025.
“The NDC party will collapse. If the NDC dares to use intimidation, violence and stupidity in the 2024 elections, we will let them know that we have men. We will show them that we have men. We have men![He screamed to emphasize]. It will never happen that we, the NPP stand on the platform to hand over power to the NDC. This will never happen! We will ensure that NPP remains in government at all costs..
The Abetifi lawmaker’s comment has sparked reactions from a section of Ghanaians, including the Minority (NDC), calling for the MP’s arrest and prosecution.
Mr. Nyaho Tamakloy immediately called Mr. Acheampang, “Withdraw and tender an undeserved apology to the good people of Ghana for such a destructive, illegal, ill-guided, unwarranted and unwise political statement.”
Meanwhile, in the NPP statement Mr. Acheampong described the attack as unnecessary and an attempt by the NDC to draw attention from Ghanaians.
“NPP considers NDC’s attack on Brian Acheampong as unnecessary but draws attention with a sinister attempt to emotionally blackmail Ghanaians”.
Now, the NPP is calling for the arrest of former President John Mahama and Asidu Nketiah
“Furthermore, if the police have to arrest anyone for seditious comments, John Dramani Mahama and Asidedu Nketiah for their brazen declarations about the 2024 general elections, NDC members are willing to sacrifice their lives to win the 2024 general elections.

New Patriotic Party reacts to NDC’s ill-founded attack on Bryan Achiampong
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has seen a flat statement signed by the Secretary General of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) on comments made by Abetifi Constituency Member of Parliament and Minister of Food and Agriculture Brian Acheampong while addressing some. Party supporters in the Eastern region describing the NDC as traitors.
The NPP finds the NDC’s statement inadequate, hypocritical, illogical and baseless, but lacks contextual substance for consumption by discerning Ghanaians who do not ignore the conduct of the main opposition party in deliberately demonizing it. And a mischievous slant to innocuous comments such as those made by members of parliament for their own selfish political interests.
Since NDC pretends not to appreciate and logically decode Brian’s message, we will educate him again as we have done on many occasions. For the avoidance of doubt, Hon Bryan Acheampong, the NDC’s permanent flag bearer, was reacting to John Dramani Mahama, who has on many occasions described the 2024 general elections as “do or die” for the NDC. Indeed, it is no secret that the NDC has always resorted to violence and intimidation against their opponents during general elections, and this is epitomized by their 2024 presumptive presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama. He affirmed:
“The NDC has revolutionary origins, and when it comes to unleashing violence, no one can beat us in unleashing violence”.
Other prominent members of the NDC, including the party’s national chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, have made similar threatening and malicious comments. In fact, after being elected as the National President, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, in his victory speech, said that the NDC will fight the 2024 general election to win the second independence for Ghana and that he is ready to sacrifice everything, including his life, for the victory of the NDC. .
In response to these innumerable reckless and treasonous comments by the NDC, Hon.
Brian Acheampong encouraged supporters of the NPP who may feel intimated by the many threats from the NDC, under no circumstances should they feel intimate because the NPP has brave men who can rise to the defense of our democracy and the 1992 constitution. Republic as enshrined in Article 3 of the Constitution.
Honorable Brian, then, proceeded to give the NPP supporters a firm assurance of the party [NPP] Will not lose the 2024 general election and hand over power to the NDC but will do everything to retain power.
Considering the steps being taken by the Akufo-Addo led government to tackle Ghana’s socioeconomic challenges are beginning to bear positive dividends and the conduct of the NPP since the advent of the Fourth Republic, Brian Acheampang’s comment can only be understood. That is, the NPP, as it has done in the past, is determined to do everything legally possible to win the 2024 general elections. NPP’s track record of winning elections through free, fair and transparent means is beyond doubt.
It is nerve wracking to see people who have made the worst statements over time and behaved in a manner capable of subverting the nation’s democratic system and plunging the country into chaos and instability, turn around and cry. The statement, which seeks to energize the NPP’s grassroots, offers a reassurance of hope to the party faithful and the citizens of Ghana. Ghanaians are totally awake to such gimmicks by the NDC.
The NPP views the NDC’s attack on Brian Acheampang as unnecessary but draws attention to court his support with a vicious attempt to emotionally blackmail Ghanaians.
As seen above, John Dramani Mahama and Asidedu Nketia for their brazen declarations about the 2024 general elections, John Dramani Mahama and Asidedu Nketia for their incessant “do it or die for the NDC” if the police have to arrest anyone for seditious comments, are willing to sacrifice their lives to win the 2024 elections.
We wish to conclude by once again assuring the good people of this great nation that the NPP remains a peace-loving party and will do nothing to threaten the peace and security of the state. We have the coveted title of being the bastion of democracy in Ghana and the African continent and this we intend to defend jealously. The 2024 general elections will be the freest, fairest and most transparent elections in the Fourth Republic and by the grace of God, the NPP will emerge victorious to continue our transformation agenda.
