Vice President Dr. Mahmudu Bawumia is known for his selfless, philanthropic works but he believes in keeping many such interventions on a low profile.
After completing the grand reconstruction of the Kumasi Central Mosque, Dr. One would expect Bawumia to regurgitate literature about it and be proud of such a historic achievement at the commissioning of the facility on Friday.
Instead, others, including the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, praised the vice president for what he had done for Kumasi.
Dr. When it was Bawumia’s turn to speak, he was clearly overwhelmed by the praise he received, especially from the Kumasi Central Mosque Committee and Asantehene.
The Vice President credited God for giving him good graces to undertake the grand project but insisted that his intervention was God’s will.
“I am truly grateful to Almighty Allah for giving me the vision, guidance and commitment to undertake this massive project. When I visited the mosque in 2020 I realized that Almighty Allah had touched me and it needed urgent attention. Dr. A.S. Bawumia said.
“As for mosques, God builds his own house. He only uses people to do it. The Vice President added.
The Kumasi Central Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in the country.
The mosque used to hold 3000 people but has now been rebuilt to a 7000-capacity and includes a 500-capacity conference room, an expanded ablution area, offices for imams and jongo chiefs, and a two-bedroom apartment for guests.
