Joe Biden’s own party doesn’t care about him.
Eleven House Democrats decided to skip Biden’s speech at a House Democratic retreat to attend the Gershwin Awards’ Joni Mitchell concert.
Reps. Maxwell Frost, Earl Blumenauer, Steve Cohen, Don Kildee, Mark Takano, Andy Kim, Katie Porter, Pramila Jayapal, Lloyd Doggett, Hilary Scholton and Greg Kasar are the delegates who left.
Punchbowl News reported:
President Joe Biden addressed House Democrats last night, a marquee moment for any retreat. The speech was the first half of Biden’s congressional one-two punch. The president will speak today at the Senate Democratic Caucus luncheon at the Capitol.
But a healthy contingent of House Democrats hung back in DC last night and skipped Biden’s speech. He went to the Gershwin Awards Joni Mitchell concert at the DAR Concert Hall. Representatives Maxwell Frost (Fla.), Earl Blumenauer (Ore.), Steve Cohen (Tenn.), Don Kildee (Mich.), Mark Takano (Calif.), Andy Kim (N.J.), Katie Porter (Calif.), Pramila Jayapal (Wash.), Lloyd Doggett (Texas), Hillary Scholten (Mich.) and Greg Cassar (Texas) were all in attendance.
It shows a lack of enthusiasm from members of Joe Biden’s own party.
Some Democrat senators also attended the concert.
The Western Journal reported:
According to Fox News, three Dem senators, Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, Patty Murray of Washington and Jack Reed of Rhode Island, were present at the concert along with several prominent Republicans, including House Speaker Kevin McCarthy of California.
While much of the Democratic caucus attended Biden’s speech in Baltimore, the lack of enthusiasm left many observers wondering what the president’s party thinks about his future.
Democrat voters feel like those who left Biden’s program.
An ABC/Washington Post poll in early February found that nearly 6 in 10 Democrats do not want to renominate Joe Biden.
ABC News reported:
President Joe Biden touted his accomplishments in his second State of the Union address on Tuesday and appears to be gearing up for an expected 2024 presidential run — but polls show many Democratic voters aren’t thrilled about it.
A new ABC News/Washington Post poll found that nearly six in 10 Democratic-aligned adults don’t want to see Biden renominated.
ABC News spoke with some of the poll’s participants to find out more about their views on Biden and their concerns about the 2024 campaign.
This is embarrassing!
