McDonald’s has announced that it will begin selling plant-based Chicken McNuggets at select restaurants.
Right now, the plant-based nuggets can only be purchased at McDonald’s in Germany, but if the nuggets prove successful they could find themselves on McDonald’s menus around the world.
The new McPlant nuggets are in collaboration with Beyond Meat, an artificial meat company that received financial backing from Bill Gates in its early years.
Per MSN, the ingredients found in the new plant-based nuggets include “pea, corn, wheat and a tempura batter, using a recipe the fast food giant created in collaboration with Beyond Meat.”
McDonald’s customers will be able to order plant-based McPlant nuggets starting February 22, with Germany the first country to roll them out.

Plant-Based McNuggets This isn’t the first time McDonald’s has put synthetic plant-based meat on its menu.
In 2021, McDonald’s introduced the McPlant Burger.
Oh My Mag reported that the McPlant burger was a major flop in the United States but was well received in Europe.
The McPlant Burger was eventually removed from the McDonald’s menu in the United States, after which the plant-based burger was sold an average of 20 times a day at McDonald’s busiest chains.

McDonald’s isn’t the only fast food chain to partner with Beyond Meat.
Gateway Pundit previously reported that KFC is “testing a new menu item for its restaurants – meatless fried “chicken”.
