10,000 calories sounds like a lot, but it’s probably not much for two elite strongmen.
To compete like a champion, you must eat like one. I mean, at least you do if you’re a high-level strongman.
As the 2023 Arnold Strongman Classic (ASC) approaches in early March in Columbus, OH, the Stoltman brothers — Tom and Luke — demonstrate their daily diet pattern two weeks before the upcoming competition. He consumed a total of 10,000 calories He tried to patronize his massive constructions. For the two-time World’s Strongest Man (WSM) in Tom and the 2021 Europe’s Strongest Man (ESM) in Luke, this is perhaps the ideal diet for two trying to lift the Atlas Stones at their peak.
Here’s an overview of the Stoltman Brothers.’ Joint 10,000-calorie diet as they enter the final phase of their 2023 ASC training. Note: Meal excerpts are divided by what each brother ate specifically. Exact portions for each food item are not disclosed. Calorie estimates are taken from video notes.
Meal 1 – Breakfast
Luke revealed that for their first meal of the day, breakfast, what the brothers eat isn’t exact between the pair. That factor doesn’t seem to phase athletes from the necessary calorie-packing.
- Mushrooms (exact part unclear)
- Eggs – Six for Luke, eight for Tom
- Toast – four pieces each
- Bacon – two pieces each

Meal 2 – Breakfast
The brothers continued to pack more protein into their second meal of the day. Apart from a generous helping of whey protein, they also had separate blends of fruit for snacks. Luke ate an unspecified amount of watermelon, pineapple, and mango, while Tom had strawberries.

Meal 3 – Preworkout Lunch
The brothers’ third meal of the day served as pre-workout nutrition. Since both dominants have slightly different needs, their calorie composition is slightly different.

For their fourth meal, the brothers leaned on a more protein solution, this time opting for an oat-based granola bar instead of fruit.

Meal 5 – Dinner
To cap off their full day’s meals, the brothers all went to lunch. Fittingly, they once again had a variety of choices in their meals. In this case, the athletes explained that dinner was their largest meal of the day in preparation for the event-based training session the next day, which was their most intense training day of the week.

Beyond the 2023 ASC, the Stoltmann brothers have big ambitions for this competitive year. Tom will look to make it three straight WSM titles during the latest iteration of the competition in April. Meanwhile, Luke will compete in the said contest as he seeks his first Strongman victory since September 2021.
