Legacy media figures (and the Biden administration) are really beside themselves over the fact that Marjorie Taylor Green has been given House committee assignments, and Joy Reid is no exception.
Reid, like other cookie-cutter one-trick ponies in the media, found a clever race angle for Green (R-GA), who was named to the House Oversight Committee.
And the MSNBC host ran with it.
“It’s like putting Jefferson Davis in charge of the Senate Oversight Committee or in charge of the United States Senate or House,” he said during Wednesday’s broadcast.
“It’s literally putting the unions in charge of the unions.”

Joy Reid: Like Marjorie Taylor Greene Jefferson Davis
To no one’s surprise, it’s clear that Joy Reid doesn’t know what ‘literally’ means. After all, the words she used to deal with were three syllables longer.
However, surprisingly, her guest, New York Times columnist Charles Blow, was unwilling to follow her into the ‘Marjorie Taylor Green is Jefferson Davis’ equation.

Blow responded, “I’m not a fan of Jefferson Davis, but Marjorie Taylor Greene is no Jefferson Davis.”
It’s par for the course on MSNBC for a guest to push back on such a blatantly stupid proposition.

Green was not only given a seat on the Oversight Committee but also effectively switched seats with Eric Swalwell (D-CA) on the House Homeland Security Committee.
Their roles were given after Speaker Kevin McCarthy promised Democrats would purge America First Republicans from the committees in 2021.

Jefferson Davis was a Democrat
Instead of Joy Reid, a box of rocks could be placed on the broadcast desk, cameras rolling for an hour, and the audience would get the same level of insightful commentary.
Apart from not understanding the word ‘literally’, Reed doesn’t know much about history.
After all, Jefferson Davis, the former president of the Confederate States, was a Democrat, as was Reid.
In an interview with Fox News contributor Angela McGlowan, former US Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. explained how the Democratic Party has become the party of the coalition.
“The history of the Democratic Party, as our nation’s oldest political party, has its roots in slavery.” – Jesse Jackson Jr

“There is no doubt that the Democratic Party is the party of the Confederacy, historically, the flag of the Democratic Party has been the flag of the Confederacy,” Jackson claimed, according to McGlowan’s 2007 book. Filled with bamboo. “It was our party flag.”
“Jefferson Davis was a Democrat, Stonewall Jackson was strongly identified with the Democratic Party, secessionists in the South saw themselves as Democrats and were Democrats.”
Jackson added: “The history of the Democratic Party, being our nation’s oldest political party, has its roots in slavery.”

Reed dutifully plays one of the most outspoken propagandists on television today.
He often refers to black Republicans as ‘tokens’ and reduces their roles in government to little more than symbolic.
Reid repeatedly belittled Herschel Walker as unintelligent and not really black, called Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) “a patina of diversity” and called Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas “Uncle Clarence.”
Most recently, he reduced the nomination of Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) for House Speaker to little more than a Republican “diversity statement.”
