One person we couldn’t take our eyes off was Ghana’s representative, Engrasia Afua K. Mofuman.
27-year-old Soundarya Rani caught the world’s attention with her elegant dress at the ceremony.
A professional model and translator of French, English, Spanish and Portuguese, Afua K grew up in Ghana and several other African countries, developing an appreciation for different cultures. This led to a Masters in International Relations.
Mofuman’s thriving teaching career fueled his drive to eradicate illiteracy and better equip rural children for higher education. He created the #PowerInThePencil project, which aims to teach illiterate children in Ghana to read and write, a basic form of education.
Mofuman volunteers countless hours for several causes, one of which is their medical screening program at Nushum Women’s Prison. Here they work closely with medical specialists to provide medical attention to inmates to curb the high incidence of neglected chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes.
Mofuman is a passionate advocate for beauty in diversity. She aims to empower the world by spreading positivity and lowering the status quo standard of beauty. She works tirelessly to promote equality, diversity and inclusion in the beauty industry.
