He said if his industrialization and skills training ideas had been implemented about 22 years ago, Ghana would have earned US$50 billion annually.
If cocoa had changed Ghana’s economy, it would have happened many years ago, he said. He emphasized the need to focus on other areas of economic development to complement cocoa production.
The former trade minister met chiefs and traders in Dambai in OT region to seek their prayers and support for his presidential bid. He said that about 22 years ago, the government was suggested to invest in palm oil production, but it was rejected.

During a tour of Dambai market, Kairematen commented that it is one of the best parent markets in the region. It is encouraged by traders from different parts of the country.
He said Malaysia earns US$20 billion annually from palm oil production and Bangladesh earns US$30 billion from garment manufacturing. If elected as Ghana’s next president, Kyrematan pledged to invest in massive production of palm oil, African cloth, cassava and salt to transform the country’s economic future.
