The FBI has confirmed initial reports that the Biden administration is now saying that a virology laboratory in Wuhan, China, was the source of most of the COVID-19.
The news comes after the Wall Street Journal reported that the Energy Department had given classified briefings to key lawmakers and the White House said the source of the virus was a lab in China.
“[FBI] “Director Wray confirmed that the bureau has determined that the source of the COVID-19 pandemic may have originated from a lab incident in Wuhan, China,” the agency said in a statement.
House Republicans have vowed to investigate the origins of COVID-19, and American taxpayer dollars may have played a role after the lab received federal funding.
Select subcommittee on the coronavirus pandemic Chairman Brad Weinstrup, R-Ohio, and House Committee Onsite and Accountability Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., are expanding their investigation into the matter.
“Revealing the truth about the origins of COVID-19 is vital to U.S. national security, critical to preventing future pandemics, and bringing some form of closure to the families of those who lost loved ones during the pandemic,” the lawmakers wrote. In a letter to the Biden administration, requests documents, communications, records and more.

As The Center Square previously reported, the Biden administration’s admission comes after Republicans were mocked by other lawmakers and the media during the pandemic for making the same proposition.
In 2020, the Associated Press called this idea a “myth”. That same year, the New York Times called it a “conspiracy theory” and the Washington Post called it a “fringe theory”.
In 2021, social media companies like Facebook are removing posts that claim that COVID-19 is man-made.
“FBI Director Wray confirmed on national TV that the FBI has long believed that Covid came from a Wuhan lab,” said House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, R-La. “Republicans were right all along. But were called conspiracy theorists. Will the media and Big Tech apologize to us?

Republican lawmakers blasted those tech companies and the media for “covering up” for China.
“The media basically labeled anyone who questioned China’s official COVID narrative as a xenophobe, conspiracy theorist and more,” said Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., who was one of the first to push the lab-leak theory. “They never apologized for covering up China. Worse, they’re still doing it.
