Powell exchanged pleasantries with Gann, with the pair later discussing other matters after their meeting.
Jamaica is in Ghana to hold talks with partners in athletics and help elevate the sport in the country.
At an earlier press conference to welcome Powell, Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) President Ben Nunoo-Mensah said the retired athlete’s visit would inspire young athletes.
“But for COVID, Alicia and Asafa would have been here a long time ago” Nunu-Mensah said as quoted by City Sports.
“What we are looking for is a sports icon who can inspire our youth… Asafa is here to inspire every Ghanaian who does sports.”
Meanwhile, the Olympic Games and World Athletics Championships gold medalist said he is looking forward to connecting with his wife’s family as part of his visit to Ghana.
“I came with my wife to see where she came from and grow up and experience the culture. Hopefully, I can come back more to spend time here with my family,” Powell added.
