News broke last week that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy had given Fox News’ Tucker Carlson access to thousands of hours of surveillance video from the day of the January 6 riots in the US Capitol in 2021.
Naturally, this led to panic on behalf of the usual suspects — the leftist mob not outside the Capitol but in its halls. These petty tyrants simply think they should have access to information – and control its release.
First, on January 6, former chairman of the House Select Committee, Rep. Benny Thompson could have released the footage any time he wanted during the 18 months he sought the truth.
His statement is typical of smears used by progressives to kill the messenger before the message gets out. You know the type. Just think about the phony claims that Hunter Biden’s laptop was a “Russian information operation” and the attacks on the New York Post for trying to get incriminating information about the laptop to the public.
Thompson’s statement said providing the footage to Carlson created “significant security concerns” and that Carlson “routinely spreads misinformation and poisonous propaganda about Putin.” Not to be outdone, Adam Schiff, the former chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and a noted liar, called Carlson a “right-wing propagandist” and “a guy who spouts Kremlin talking points.” The California Democrat was joined by fellow select committee member Jamie Raskin of Maryland, who once again smeared Carlson as a “pro-Putin journalist.”
How did a prominent American journalist become Putin’s puppet? Well, to understand that, you have to at least go back to the 2016 campaign and two years later, when the New York Times and Washington Post won Pulitzer Prizes for making up stories about Donald Trump being a willing partner of Russia, or an unwitting stooge. Carlson never bought into the deception. He was exposing the Democrats’ narrative as cynical nonsense and therefore had to be destroyed.
Then when he asked tough questions about the war in Ukraine, Carlson became an enemy of the national security state — yes, the same national security state that President Eisenhower warned us about back in 1961. Unfortunately, the national security state now controls much of it. The national media, and the pro-war forces, don’t like that they can’t control Carlson, so they have to attack him endlessly. His coup was just the latest opportunity to gain access to the January 6 footage.

You can bet the New York Times, Washington Post, CNN and MSNBC will be doing everything they can to smear Carlson over the next week. — and reach our own conclusions about why Nancy Pelosi hid the Jan. 6 footage for two years.
Instead of condemning Carlson and Speaker McCarthy, all loyal Americans should be thanking them for deciding that “we the people” should be trusted with the facts, not spoon-fed them a choice. Heck, Democrats didn’t think we could be trusted with knowing how much surveillance video existed. For months, we’ve been told 14,000 hours of raw footage, but now we find out it’s actually 44,000 hours. Has anyone on the January 6 committee tried to wade through that footage to see if it confirms the pre-established narrative of the armed uprising? Or were they afraid of what they would find?
Whatever they thought then, it’s clear what they think now – it’s dangerous for the American public to see what really happened. And until the footage airs on “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” there’s no guarantee we’ll see it. Just as Democrats in the White House worked hard to convince Twitter and Facebook to suppress Hunter’s damaged laptop, you can be sure that Democrats in the House will be working overtime to prevent that from happening. It has always been a common thread that anyone who opposes Democratic Party politics is a Russian stooge or Putin puppet.
When I heard those comments from Tucker Carlson, it reminded me of a similar taunt used against another journalist many years ago, a journalist like Carlson who doesn’t fear entrenched power and stands up for American principles at every opportunity.
In the 1950s, Sen. Edward R., who exposed Joseph McCarthy’s anti-American rhetoric. Muro is the journalist. McCarthy does not carry a torch for witch hunting.
Murrow’s show “See It Now” was known for its fearless journalism, and the March 9, 1954 episode of “A Report on Sen. Joseph R. McCarthy” was the high-water mark of Murrow’s career, leading to McCarthy’s eventual impeachment. by the Senate.
As a fair-minded journalist, Murrow gave McCarthy an entire episode of “See It Now” to respond to his report. In that response, McCarthy resorted to the same name-calling tactics that Thompson, Schiff and Raskin used last week to attack Carlson. The only difference is that McCarthy labeled Murrow, the most respected journalist of his day, as a communist rather than a Russian tool, although the difference is mostly academic when you think about Putin’s past.

McCarthy attacked Murrow as “a symbol, leader, and wiseman of the fox pack that is always found at the throats of anyone who dares to expose individual communists and traitors,” and claimed that Murrow, “20 years ago.” Engaged in propaganda for communist causes.
Most notably, McCarthy wore the mantle of a defender of liberty just as the members of the January 6th Committee told us they were the defenders of democracy. He declared his desire to humiliate, harass and arrest anyone who uttered a single word about Communism “We Americans live in a free world, a world where we can stand as individuals. A church of our own choice and where we worship God as we please, each in his own style, where we can freely speak our opinions about any subject or any person.
Also, the Democrats in charge of the January 6 committee declare that they are defending democracy against those who have different views on the election, who are in the wrong place at the wrong time, and who can clearly be locked in. Years without trial. But if democracy needs to be defended, it can only hear their narrative, not from the protesters, but from those who believe they can only speak their truth.
Like Murrow, Tucker Carlson can be considered a follower of the facts, and for that reason he is truly dangerous – not to democracy, but to demagogues.
