Jamai Kyle, a 42-year-old former high school swimming sensation who won a gold medal at the 1997 Pan Pacific Championships, was pronounced dead shortly after midnight last night after her boyfriend found her on the floor of her residence in the US Virgin Islands. Tuesday. Police are investigating her death.

Saint John, USVI – On Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at approximately 2:39 am, detectives were notified of a Dead on Arrival (DOA) case at the Myra Keating-Smith Clinic in Saint John.On Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at approximately 12:08 am, a male left a local bar to check on his girlfriend at her residence. Upon his arrival, he found his girlfriend on the floor. With the help of a friend, the male was able to get the female to a nearby vehicle and transported the female to the Myra Keating-Smith Clinic. Once at the clinic, CPR was performed and 911 was notified, however, the woman succumbed to her illness. The woman was identified by her boyfriend as Mrs. Jamie Kyle, 42, of New Hampshire.
The case is currently under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call 911, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Detective J. Kyle was a member of the US team as a teenager at the 1997 Pan Pacific Championships, where he won the gold medal in the team’s 800 free relay. She swam the 3rd leg alongside Lindsay Benko, Ashley Whitney and Jenny Thompson.
Kyle won a silver medal in the 800 free as a member of the United States Swimming National B Team at the 1998–1999 FINA Swimming World Cup in Brazil.
Kyle swam for the legendary Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida, where she held team records in the 15-16 age group in the 200 yard fly, 400 yard IM, 200 meter IM and 400 meter IM.
