Vice President Kamala Harris had her own ‘please clap’ moment when she introduced a group of students who, despite being encouraged by the host, gave no applause.
Harris was speaking to a group of historically black colleges and universities. A video of her introduction surfaced online earlier in the week.
“Please stand as she enters the room,” White House adviser Keisha Lance Bottoms advised attendees.
“Hello everyone,” Harris says as some in the crowd see her enter.
The host then laughed and said, “You can clap, it’s okay!”

Anyone clap for Kamala Harris? please
While there’s plenty to mock about Vice President Kamala Harris, we might have to cut ourselves some slack here.
It’s a tight room, a well-dressed crowd who show great respect for their surroundings. They may have thought silence was the best way to show respect.
Additionally, with most of the crowd holding cell phones or programs in their hands to record her entrance, it’s difficult to initiate applause for whoever is addressing them.
However, but we are Some are cutting loose, others are not as forgiving. And that’s okay.

Several observers noted similarities between Harris’ dilemma and the famous incident involving former Florida governor Jeb Bush.
Symbolic of his low-energy presidential campaign in 2016, Bush implored a crowd of lukewarm supporters to “please clap” after delivering a line he thought deserved support.
“Hopefully my show tonight goes better than this,” the comedian tweeted Doc Kennedy.
“The vice president had to remind the audience to applaud,” joked Fox News host Sean Hannity. “You really can’t do this.”
Fox News radio host Jimmy Faila quipped that the crowd “didn’t want to wake Biden up” considering it was midday.

Another painfully embarrassing moment
Perhaps Kamala’s ‘please clap’ moment was when she was campaigning for president and asked the audience at a town hall event if they were ready for her and immediately regretted it.
“There’s this whole conversation about electability that’s centered on our campaign,” he said at the time. “Is America ready for it?”
Some in the crowd shouted, “No!” shouted.
“Well, yes they are,” she shot back after initially making a shocked face.

At the same event, Harris reiterated his strange fascination with Venn diagrams.
“I like to think of a lot of things in the context of a Venn diagram, I love Venn diagrams. ‘Does this have a Venn diagram?’ I’m telling you, it’s fascinating when you do,” he explained. “So, the Venn diagram, those three circles, right?”
She had to stop after the first four words – ‘I like to think…’

That Venn diagram appeal can only be overshadowed by Kamala’s love of yellow school buses.

“I don’t know what she likes better: the Venn diagrams or the smile,” Hannity quipped, referring to the vice president’s penchant for good ol’ fashioned cackle.
President Biden, who chose Harris as his running mate in 2020 because she is black and female, has described her as a “work in progress.”
This indicates that progress is actually being made. This is not.
