Before the concert, which started around 7pm, Wendy Shay organized a free health screening and vaccination session at the same ground through her foundation and Rufftown Records.
When it was finally time for the concert, the award-winning songwriter thrilled his fans and patrons with an hour-long non-stop energetic performance as he belted out classic hits from his catalog.
She occasionally paused to interact with her fans and confirmed that she is currently the best female musician in Ghana – and of course she has certainly earned bragging rights.
Apart from Wendy Shay who was the headliner on the night, she was supported by some of Ghana’s top class musicians and her colleagues on the night.
Famey, Sister Afia, Eno Baroni, Amerado, Ross Kuku, Kwame Yogot, LaRusso, Bossom Pyung, Kwaku Darlington, Darkovibs, Malcolm Noona and many more gave the concert fans a night out. They obey forever.
Memories were created as every inch of the front row was occupied by music lovers. The huge crowd extended into the streets, causing massive traffic jams on the Accra-Kasoa highway. One estimates that about 20,000 people attended.
The first edition of ‘Shay Concert’ was held in 2018, the second edition was held in 2019.
However, Wendy Shay and her management took a break from hosting the concert in 2022, when the COVID-19 pandemic literally brought the entire world to its knees.
