A credible election, according to Nana Akufo-Addo, will help Ghana consolidate its democratic credentials.
The President further alleged; The election management body should not be intimidated by the pressure of political parties.
“Now and forever, remember that every decision you make will be scrutinized to the letter. However, that should not scare you and no one should try to force you into submission. On the contrary, let this expectation of the Ghanaian people lift you to greater heights and above all, work to ensure that the will of the Ghanaian people is upheld.
“I have spent most of my adult life fighting for the establishment of democracy and human rights in this country and it is no secret that I have always fought and advocated for credible elections in Ghana. In stressing the importance of credibility of elections, the counting, tabulation and declaration of results cannot be more important than the sacred God-given rights of a citizen to cast his vote and It should be pointed out that there should not be.
Nana Akufo-Addo stated this at the swearing-in ceremony of two members of the EC board at Jubilee House.
Those three are Dr. Peter Appihene, Madam Salima Ahmed Tijani and Reverend Akua Ofori Boateng.
