The Minister-designate of State for the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development, Ose Bonsu Amoh led a team to inspect the Kjetia market on Wednesday March 15, 2023 after a fire broke out.
He announced forming a committee to investigate the cause of the fire against future incidents.
Mr. Amoh visited the site to get firsthand information about the situation regarding the damage caused by the fire.
The fire, which broke out around 4:30 pm on Wednesday, damaged several shops and goods worth millions.
Speaking to the media after the tour, Mr Amoh gave his full support to Local Government Minister Don Botwe setting up a committee to investigate the cause of the fire outbreak and recommend measures to avoid further incidents.
The minister-designate of the state expressed concern over the scale of damage caused by the fire, saying that the committee would work to tackle the situation by identifying the challenges in the market and recommend effective measures to address them.
He appealed to the affected traders to remain calm as the authorities work together to find a solution to their problems.
The minister-designate of the state assured the traders of the government’s support to face their current plight.
Meanwhile, the Ashanti Regional Fire Command said it has launched an investigation to uncover the cause of the fire.
OB Amoh visited the market with AC Ntim, Deputy Minister of Local Government, Director General of NADMO, Nana Agyemang Prempe, MCE of KMA, Sam Paine, senior officers of security services, contractors and project consultants. .
