Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she believes Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis should drop out of the 2024 presidential race.
DeSantis has not announced his intention to run, but there is widespread speculation that he will.
Palin weighed in Tuesday in an interview with Newsmax.
“DeSantis doesn’t need to [run]” Palin said. “I’ll make him our president someday, but not right now.

“He should be governor for a while,” he continued. “He’s young, you know. He has decades ahead of him to become our president.

While a good debate in the primaries is good for the party, Palin said she still believes Donald Trump will win.
“I’m all about healthy, competitive primaries,” Palin said. “It makes everyone discuss more clearly and do more work and communicate what’s going on to people [their] Documents and views of this country. So, I love healthy debate and competitive primaries.
“But when you talk about specific people, individual people who are looking to put their hat in the ring, … they have a lot of guts to think they’re going to go against Trump,” he continued.
So far, Trump and neoconservative war hawk Nikki Haley are the only Republicans to announce their 2024 campaigns.
