It is interesting that lately the news has become its own version of comedy; Sometimes, I have to double check that what I’m reading isn’t a Babylon Bee parody title. I’d say I’ve got a 50/50 shot most days.
This week’s most incredible headline has so many ‘it’d be funny if it weren’t true’ elements, I’m not sure I’ll do them all justice in this one article, but I’ll give it my best shot.
My favorite evening news program led off last night with the breaking news that a former high-level FBI agent had been arrested for various reasons, including essentially working as an unclaimed foreign agent. That alone is pretty reprehensible, but when you add that the person in question is secretly receiving payment from a sanctioned Russian oligarch it raises a few eyebrows.
However, even my most beloved evening news anchor buried the real lead of the story; This now disgraced retired FBI agent is none other than Charles McGonigal.
Sound familiar? He must; He was one of the key agents leading the Trump-Russia investigation witch hunt.

naughty boy
Retired FBI agent Charles McGonigal was indicted on five counts of violation of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) and conspiracy to commit money laundering and conspiracy to commit money laundering. That’s pretty bad; Let’s dive deeper, shall we?

US Attorney Damian Williams said of the charges:
“Former high-level FBI official Charles McGonigal and court interpreter Sergey Shestakov violated US sanctions by agreeing to provide services to sanctioned Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska.”
So in layman’s terms, this alleged traitor and his traitor Sergei worked for a Russian oligarch who was sanctioned by the United States government while the Trump campaign was “investigating” alleged election interference and conspiracy to work with Russia to rig the presidential election. .
Let it sink in for a minute.

Mr. Williams went on to describe what McGonigal did:
“They both worked with Deripaska in the past to try to remove his sanctions and as public servants they should know better.”
In fact, he knew better and you cannot convince me otherwise.
Let me repeat this for the past people
An FBI official who investigated Trump for alleged ties to Russia found that no one had been arrested for his own alleged ties to Russia.

Being dirty is good
I find the parallels between federal agencies interesting. It’s fascinating how the military brass always gets big foreign contracts or high-paying defense contractor positions.
We recently learned through the Twitter files how former CIA and FBI agents tend to land pretty legit gigs at the social media giant, no doubt making more money each year than I did in the first ten years of my military service. And now, basically this dirty agent managed to make the bank work as a foreign agent of Russia.

That’s right, McGonigal is accused of accepting and concealing a $225,000 payment from ‘business interests in Europe’ who worked for the Albanian foreign intelligence service.
US Attorney Matthew Graves explains how heinous the move is:
“Covering your contacts with foreign nationals and concealing your personal financial relationships are gateways to corruption.”
I’d say it’s a pretty big damn gateway. Wonder how much he got paid to go after President Trump and his staff (see what I did there, I got puns for days) on allegations of Russian collusion.

Btw, you won’t hear the media report but McGonigal was a Comey protĂ©gĂ© and a huge Comey fan.

A snake in the grass
It’s easy for ordinary everyday citizens to not fully understand the gravity of the actions of those charged with supporting and protecting our Constitution because the mainstream media covers them up at best and hides the truth at worst.
For example, Mr.
“Russian oligarchs like Oleg Deripaska exert global malign influence on behalf of the Kremlin and have been linked to acts of bribery, extortion and violence.”
Although it seemed tame enough, Oleg tried to orchestrate the assassination of a fellow oligarch. Interestingly in 2021, McGonigal agreed to open an investigation into a rival Russian oligarch in exchange for a hidden payment from Oleg.
Huh, I’m sure it’s just a coincidence. The point is that this person was not some misguided agent, or some greedy bureaucrat who wanted to pad his bank account, if the charges were accurate.
Former senior FBI counterintelligence officer Charles McGonigal, who played a key role in the Trump-Russia fraud “investigation,” has just been arrested over his own ties to a sanctioned Russian oligarch.
Are you still paying attention?
— Charlie Kirk (@charliekirk11) January 23, 2023
FBI Assistant Director Donald Alway explained:
“Mr. McGonigal committed grave perjury to the United States for personal gain and at the expense of our national security.
And while all this sounds awful, it’s still not a real punchline.

outlived their usefulness
If you haven’t yet been paying attention throughout this article or the many others that expose the gross corruption in the federal government, particularly the FBI, you really should because it’s important.
Regardless of your feelings about former presidents, the truth is that there is a deep state effort in our country to manipulate and control positions of power that are meant to be duly elected by its citizens.
McGonigal was among the first to learn of allegations that, while head of cybercrimes, then-candidate Trump’s campaign adviser, George Papadopoulos, had bragged that the Russians had ‘dirt’ on Hillary Clinton. McGonigal led the investigation, which of course turned up nothing because there was nothing.
Some might consider McGonigal’s indictment that the FBI is cleaning house, holding itself accountable, and trying to change its public image to boost American confidence in the system. I’m not so sure.
BREAKING: Charles McGonigal, the senior FBI agent who led the 2016 investigation that found no ties between Trump and Russia, has now been arrested for taking and laundering money for Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska.
Kremlin infiltration of America is very deep.

McGonigal faces a maximum sentence of 80 years in prison. Still, it’s possible he’s either outlived his usefulness for the FBI or outgrown his skis. He was a favorable face to recast the FBI as a trusted source of justice.
As former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski said of the impeachment:
“There is no limit to the depth of corruption within the FBI … Nothing shocks me anymore.”
And this time, dear reader, nothing should shock you.
Now is the time to support and share sources you trust.
