Without proper regimen, you will keep facing problems like breakage. But if you follow these five tips, you should be able to achieve healthy relaxed hair:

Then the main mistake we make is to relax the already relaxed hair. This is probably the main reason why people end up with patches and extremely damaged hair.

When it’s time for a touch-up, coat the rest of your hair with a thickener like hair food and let it grow. A thick layer acts as a protective barrier.

Then, always force the new growth to rest unless you rest it for the first time or do a corrective rest.

    • Do deep conditioning treatments often

Deep conditioning is essential for relaxed hair. This is a treatment that restores some moisture and bounce.

The best way to ensure moisture penetrates is to apply some heat, such as sitting under a dryer or heating cap. Some people do this treatment twice a week, once a week or every two weeks to ensure that their hair never dries out. Between these treatments, moisturize and seal your hair.

    • Do a protein treatment once a month

It’s important to do deep conditioning treatments but you need to make sure you’re balancing it with protein treatments. Protein helps strengthen your stand and prevents limpness in your hair from excess moisture.

With protein, you should use it sparingly because it can easily weigh down your hair. That is why you should do this only once a month and not every week.

A lot of manipulation is not healthy for hair, whether natural or relaxed. Especially for relaxed hair, it can be a little fragile because it has to have frequent breaks.

When you’re choosing your protective styles, make sure you follow all the rules that include choosing styles that don’t emphasize your edges and aren’t too heavy.

Also, wait at least two weeks after touching up before braiding because your hair is still in a fragile state.

Let it sink in, not all heat is bad. We need indirect heat for safe protein and conditioning treatments. The type of harmful heat you want to avoid is direct heat from appliances like flat irons and blow dryers.

You can learn how to easily achieve different looks without using direct heat. Only use direct heat if you absolutely have to, and don’t forget to apply a heat protectant when you do.
