New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is worried that Lee Zeldin could challenge her in 2024.
Zeldin did not comment on the possibility.
Gillibrand sent out a fundraising email for a potential matchup.
The New York Post reported:
“Our potential Republican opponent, Lee Zeldin, attacked Kirsten Gillibrand on Twitter. As we gear up for a tough re-election fight, we know this is just the beginning,” the email plea reads.

“Zeldin won the New York governorship in the 2022 midterms, but New York Republicans had their best election cycle in two decades — flipping enough House, red seats to regain the majority,” reads a fundraising pitch sent to supporters Wednesday.
The message came a day after Gillibrand told a local news station that if the Long Islander were to become the first Republican senator from New York since Alphonse D’Amato left office in 1999, “I would beat him.”
Friday responded to Zeldin’s comments with derision.
Zeldin responded on Twitter.
“Tough talk from New York’s laziest and most forgettable senator in generations. Senator What’s Her Name is only saying this because she’s in a state with millions more Dems than Republicans. If the Dem enrollment advantage is 2 million, it’s not enough. She’s toast.

Zeldin consistently drew large crowds at campaign rallies across the state when he came within striking distance of the New York governor’s race.
