Position Overview


The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position in Applied Linguistics, beginning in Fall 2025.
The successful candidate will be expected to achieve excellence in teaching and to assist in further development of the UNT-Dallas Applied English program. UNT-Dallas offers faculty the unique opportunity to help shape the character of a learner-focused comprehensive university.

This position is responsible for teaching four (4) courses per semester. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in such service activities such as curriculum development, online course development, project development, and committee leadership.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Applied Linguistics, American Sign Language, Deaf Studies, or other closely related fields;
  • Evidence or demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching;
  • Experience in teaching a range of Linguistics or American Sign Language courses;
  • Evidence or demonstrated potential for excellence in university and community service;
  • Proficiency or certification in American Sign Language;
  • Demonstrated effective written, verbal, and team-building communication skills.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ABD or PhD in Applied Linguistics, American Sign Language, or Deaf Studies;
  • Experience in mentoring undergraduate research with students;
  • Experience in curriculum development and interdisciplinary degree programs;
  • Experience in promoting and marketing academic programs;
  • Academic experience working with a culturally diverse population.
