**The Food Safety Manager is responsible for the development, management, compliance, on-going sustainability and continuous improvement related to the factory's Food Safety Programs to assure all products are manufactured, packaged, stored and shipped under safe and wholesome conditions. Additionally, this position manages the factory's Pest and Sanitation Management Programs to ensure compliance to Nestl, Merrick Petcare, factory, and federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. This role is vital in promoting quality awareness and will serve as an ambassador and as an example of Food Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Good Sanitation Practices compliance throughout the facility and with customers/vendors/contractors.**
**Responsibilities** **:**
* **Management commitment and responsibility to food safety. Plan, develop, perform, and track food safety training for employees in all departments. Ensure all specifications, procedures and records are controlled and managed within a centralized document control system.**
* **Product traceability- lot identification, coding recall and crisis management, incident management. Ensure factory has a robust traceability tracking program.**
* **Pre-requisite programs - Good manufacturing practices, sanitation, pest control, biosecurity, product protection. Develop SOP's, conduct training, audit, and communicate results.**
* **HACCP Program and Pathogen Monitoring. Ensure programs and supporting activities are in place with an emphasis on compliance and continuous improvement.**
* **Quality Monitoring Scheme - Ensure all food safety and quality activities performed within the factory are identified in the QMS.**
* **Instrument Calibration, laboratories, and test Methods - Ensure all testing equipment and procedures utilized for product release are managed within an Internal Control Plan (ICP).**
* **Release System and Status Control - Ensure all raw materials, rework and finished goods meet all food safety and quality specifications prior to use and release for shipment.**
* **Regulatory Requirements - Ensure finished goods meet all regulatory requirements prior to shipment. Maintain all records required.**
* **Track consumer complaints, quality defects, and specification compliance using Statistical Process Control. Implement corrective actions to support continuous improvement.**
**Requirements** **:**
**Bachelor's Degree and 3 years' experience in food manufacturing, quality and or production and 1+ years of supervisory or leadership experience.**
**OR**
**High School Diploma or GED and 7 years' experience in food manufacturing, quality and or production and 1+ years of supervisory or leadership experience.**
