Scripps Health Administrative Services supports our five hospitals and 19 outpatient facilities, which treat half a million patients annually through 2,600 affiliated physicians.

This is a Part-Time (40 hours per pay period, every two weeks) position on variable days of the week.

As an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) for Maternal Child Health, you will be responsible for:

\n
    \n
  • Assumes clinical leadership responsibilities for nursing and nursing practice.

  • \n
  • Active in house-wide clinical program planning.

  • \n
  • The primary focus of this position is the advancement of expert nursing practice.

  • \n
  • Evaluates clinical practice for patient care and monitors the standards of practice.

  • \n
  • Provides the use of evidence-based resources, change and system theories to promote organizational improvements.

  • \n
  • Facilitates point of service decision making activities, including but not limited to education, research, and performance improvement for their areas of expertise.

  • \n
  • This is a nursing leadership position which functions in the nursing (not medical) model to advance practice within a designated scope of responsibility.

  • \n

Preferred Experience/Specialized Skills/Certificates:

\n
    \n
  • Prefer three to five years working in Maternal child health

  • \n
  • Prefer those with experience leading a project to measured outcomes.

  • \n
  • CNS certification preferred.

  • \n
  • National Board Certification through ANCC and/or equivalent in specialty area preferred.

  • \n
  • Prefer Masters in nursing. Masters in related field acceptable with bachelors in nursing.

  • \n
  • Doctorate recommended, Preferred doctorate in nursing such as DNP, PhD, DNSc. Will accept EdD and others upon review.

Required Experience/Specialized Skills: 

\n
    \n
  • Two years full-time equivalent of experience as an RN, preferably in the APN role.

  • \n
  • Provides portfolio for the interview with at least 2 examples of: creative work such as articles submitted for publication, contributions to texts, papers written for nursing coursework., outlines for classes taught, examples of performance improvement projects or evidence-based practice change projects, evidence of leadership activities such as chairing a committee or output developed from activities submitted to a committee or task force.

Required Certification/Registration:

  • Current CA RN license.

  • \n
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS card required.

  • \n
  • Current Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring Certificate (AWHONN or NCC accepted).

  • \n
  • Current Advanced NRP (AAP-Issued 7th or 8th edition accepted).

  • \n
\n

Required Education/Course(s)/Training:

  • Master’s required, Prefer CNS.

  • \n
\n

Position is eligible for a $2,000 retention bonus based off eligibility.
