Vallier is very much on the lookout for a spot at the 2023 Olympia.
On May 30, 2023, veteran bodybuilder Ian Vallier shared a series of photos on his Instagram page of an athlete with ripped legs. A few days later, on June 1, 2023, the bodybuilder shared a similar teaser detailing his apparent progress in the gym in just a few months. While the connection isn’t entirely clear, it appears to be a teaser of Vallier’s recent training gains as he prepares to compete in the 2023 Toronto Pro on June 4, 2023.
The 2023 Toronto Pro will be Vallier’s first competitive appearance on the podium in the 2023 calendar year. More importantly, the Canadian native will meet in Orlando, FL in early November 2023. They try to use the competition to qualify for Olympia.
After the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB) made changes to the Olympia qualification system, Vallier – who finished 11th in the men’s open category in the 2022 iteration of the major competition – had no choice but to win the landmark event. Compete in Olympia again in 2023. Previous winners in any Olympia category, along with top-five finishers in the previous edition, have automatic qualification only. Competitors like Vallier need outright wins in any sanctioned IFBB competitions during the lead-up to this year’s event.
This relatively new obstacle should not be a problem for Valier. The athlete won his only non-Olympia 2022 event, the 2022 Vancouver Pro. According to their page NPC News Online, the athlete can count several other notable IFBB victories from his career. They include wins at the 2020 New York Pro, 2021 Tampa Pro and 2021 Texas Pro.
At this point in Vallier’s professional outlook, the most important place he is looking for more success is on the Mr. Olympia stage. Vallier made his Olympia debut in 2018, where he finished 14th. His best results in the competition were his two back-to-back seventh-place finishes in 2020 and 2021.
Vallier previously made headlines for training four-time Classic Physique Olympia champion (2019-2022) Chris Bumstead. The pair parted ways in the fall of 2022 when Bumstead began working with coach Hanny Rambaud. According to opinions on the bodybuilding industry as a whole, in February 2023 Vallier suggested that the Olympia should be more streamlined, suggesting its removal. 212 section.
Although skilled, Vallier is not one of the biggest stars on paper in the modern bodybuilding pantheon. Bringing his torn legs to a potential win at the 2023 Toronto Pro, followed by traditional preparation for improvement at the 2023 Olympia, could go a long way to putting the athlete back on the map.
