Forget the image of Donald Trump being paraded around in handcuffs on Tuesday or any other day this week.
It now appears that any potential impeachment of Trump may or may not happen in the next week.
Gateway Pundit reported on Sunday that such a hearing is likely to be pushed back as the mystery witness is yet to testify.
Recall that Trump previously announced that he was expected to be arrested on Tuesday on charges of having an affair with porn star Stormy Daniels. He is accused of providing $130,000 to his disgraced former lawyer Michael Cohen in 2016, who then transferred the money to Daniels as hush money.
Cohen was previously convicted of several crimes and was sentenced to three years in prison in 2018. The charges include lying to Congress, as well as campaign-finance violations and tax evasion.
The prosecution, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) in a letter to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg earlier today urged the DA’s testimony, relying heavily on Cohen.
Federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York opposed charging Trump in connection with the Stormy Daniels payment in 2019, despite Cohen’s testimony. The Federal Election Commission closed its investigation into the case in 2021.
Moreover, the facts of the case remain unchanged and more witnesses have not emerged.
The only thing that has changed is Trump announcing a run for the White House.
Here’s Fox reporter David Spunt with the news:
Brett (Bayer), some developing news as I’m on the air right now. We just read from a law enforcement meeting in New York about a possible response to the Trump impeachment.
According to sources briefed on that law enforcement meeting, no hearing will take place until next week, though things could change.
But it looks like nothing will happen this week for every law enforcement officer, and it looks like a virtual option to allow the former president to virtually appear online.
So it sounds like he’ll come in person if he’s indicted, and law enforcement sources say he’s pushing the timeline back a bit.

That appears to be one of the reasons for the timeline pushback, with an additional witness expected to appear on Wednesday. The name of this witness is unknown at this stage.
#TrumpProb: Two separate sources say the Manhattan DA is still calling another witness on Wednesday (the grand jury will not be in session on Tuesday).

Fox News reports that law enforcement is concerned about safety. If the former president comes to Manhattan, there will be a major police presence and the area will be cordoned off. Trump has called on his supporters to protest peacefully ahead of possible impeachment.
