After a train crash and ‘controlled burn’ in East Palestine, Ohio, local and federal officials rushed to say all was well.
Everyone who lived there knew it was not good. People immediately complained that the air and water were poisoned.
Now train workers at the site are already falling ill. Is anyone surprised?
NBC News reports:
Rail unions tell Biden officials sick workers at Norfolk Southern derailment site
The president of US railroad unions has told Biden administration officials that train workers are sick at the site of the Norfolk Southern derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, in an effort to push for greater rail safety.
Leaders from 12 unions met with Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Federal Railroad Administration Administrator Amit Bose in Washington, DC on Wednesday to discuss the derailment, the aftermath and needed safety improvements…
According to the letter, Norfolk Southern Rail workers who worked or were working at the cleanup site reported experiencing “migraines and nausea.” A worker reportedly asked his supervisor to transfer him from the derailed site due to his symptoms, but did not hear back from his supervisor and was left at the workplace…
Workers are not being provided with appropriate personal protective equipment such as respirators, eye protection or protective clothing, the letter said. According to union representatives, 35 to 40 workers were on the track and were not supplied with proper breathing equipment – just paper and N95 masks – or rubber gloves, boots or coverups.
The Biden administration is a train wreck. How can they be trusted to handle this?

It’s not up to the mayor to fix this. He doesn’t know how.
This situation will get worse before it gets better.
