Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green lashes out at Ukraine’s President Zelensky during CPAC speech: ‘Keep your hands off our sons and daughters’

During the third day of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), Representative Marjorie Taylor Green of Georgia used her speaking time, before addressing an audience of conservative activists from across the country, following recent remarks by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Participation in the conflict against Russia.

Green asserted that Zelensky “must be abandoned by our sons and daughters,” prompting almost immediate media criticism.

Republicans have been fierce critics of the United States’ involvement in funding and providing billions in aid and weapons to Ukraine’s fight against invading Russian forces, claiming it would further escalate a potential war between the United States and Russia.

Her particular choice of words refers to a series of recent remarks made by the Ukrainian president in February, in which he said that if Ukraine falls to Russia, other nations (including NATO members) could face the same fate.

Zelensky’s speech led to this

At a recent news conference discussing the first-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Zelensky said, “The US will never give up on NATO member states. If this happens, Ukraine will lose different opinions and weakening – dwindling – aid, Russia will enter the Baltic states, NATO member states, and then the US will have to send its songs and daughters in the same way. We are sending their sons and daughters to war.

“And they will have to fight,” he continued, “because we are talking about NATO. And they will die, God forbid, because this is a terrible thing. I want peace and Ukrainian support for the United States.

Green told the CPAC audience that he was “committed to saying that Ukraine has no money, and that country needs to find peace, not war.”

“And I look at the camera and tell Zelensky directly, it is better to leave our sons and daughters because they are not dying there,” he said.

Liberals lash out

Sure enough, as soon as her speech was over, liberals began bashing her remarks and those in attendance.

Democratic strategist Greg Pinello said “Putin will do everything he can to help Republicans steal the 2024 election. His agents are in place,” thus spreading misinformation, referring to an unproven conspiracy theory that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to ‘steal’ the 2016 election victory from failed candidate Hillary Clinton. .

Green Demands Accountability

A week ago, Green announced his intention to introduce a bill that would demand an audit of all taxpayer dollars provided to Ukraine during its yearlong conflict.

“It forces Congress to give the American people an audit,” Green said in an interview with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson. “And that’s exactly what the American people need, an audit of Ukraine, because we don’t know where all this money is going.”

“They are the only border,” he said [Democrats] Ukraine should be concerned, not America’s southern border. Under the Republicans, not a penny goes to Ukraine. Our country comes first. They don’t care about our borders or our people.
