“Under our Fourth Republic I will assemble and administer a lean but very effective government. We will significantly reduce the size of government. As I announced in my Ghana V Want address at UPSA late last year, I will form a government of no less than sixty (60) ministers and deputy ministers of state.
Mr Mahama promised to investigate the expenditure of Covid-19 funds and ensure proper accountability of all public funds.
“Fellow countrymen and women, it is time Ghanaians get proper accountability from those who elect them to political office. This responsibility can only be achieved by a new party in government. I assure Ghanaians, I will investigate how public money has been spent and this includes the findings of the Covid-19 audit and the Auditor-General’s reports over the years.
“We need to clean up the Ajyan stables and rid them of filth and corruption. Anti-corruption agencies will be given unfettered space to do their work. The days of the infamous ‘clearing agent’ are long gone. But to ensure efficiency and professionalism in this endeavour, state institutions will be empowered to be independent in their work. Government-owned Businesses are not gravy trains for political cronies.
The former president made the comments at the launch of his campaign at the Cedi Hall of the University of Health and Allied Sciences in Ho, Volta Region.
