Defense officials, speaking to the House Armed Services Personnel Subcommittee earlier this week, acknowledged that they are still considering disciplinary action against soldiers who refuse orders to get a COVID vaccine.
Given what we know today about the vaccine’s poor effectiveness in preventing the spread of COVID, and the fact that the vaccine mandate was overturned with the benefit of hindsight, it is surprising.
Defense Department Undersecretary for Personnel Gilbert Cisneros Jr. told the committee that service members who refused the vaccine and did not apply for an exemption are still being reviewed.
“In order to maintain good order and discipline, it is very important that our service members follow orders when they are lawful,” Cisneros said, adding that each case is being evaluated.
“Troops who refuse COVID vaccines may still face punishment.”
This is very insulting to our military members! 😡https://t.co/7Eo8SS0FG8 pic.twitter.com/M1qHXqmsim

Troops who refused vaccination could still be punished
First, it’s absolutely hilarious that they’re targeting soldiers who don’t bother to submit exemptions for the COVID vaccine, religious exemption requests are essentially rubber-stamped denials from the Department of Defense.

Apparently they were not considered. And the army was smart enough to realize that there was no point in applying.
Second, the chard is done. let it go
There is no longer the illusion that a vaccine is the most effective means of preventing the spread of COVID, and there is no mass hysteria that leads people to arrogantly impose orders on anyone, including the military.
Our service members deserve better.

So why the constant review? Republican lawmakers certainly want to know.
“What’s the point?” Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) asked Cisneros. “We canceled the order – what’s the point of continuing to review cases?”
Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) blasted the vaccine mandate and said he would fight for “those who have been illegally purged, in my opinion, to rejoin the military with their full benefits, with their back pay.”

Discipline is a joke for these troops
The Pentagon formally dropped its COVID-19 vaccine order in January of this year. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin implemented the troop requirement in August 2021.
Kathleen Anderson of The Political Insider recently reported that four Republican senators voted against an amendment to the bill that would have fired troops for refusing the jab.
“They are not currently pursuing reimbursement for service members who have been discharged for refusing to take a COVID vaccination,” the Pentagon said.

The NDAA just passed by Congress directed the DOD to end its vaccine orders, but stopped short of recall.

This is ridiculous, a miscarriage of justice.
Defense officials at the hearing said service members can go through proper channels to begin the process of re-enlistment into the military.
Under Secretary of the Navy Eric Raven said the current number of those interested in returning to service is in the “single digits.”
Why they don’t want to go back is a mystery.
More than 8,400 soldiers — 3,717 Marines, 2,041 Marines, 1,841 Army and 834 Air Force — were forced out of the military for refusing to get vaccinated, the Associated Press reported.
It is a group of men and women who should not only be restored if they wish, but should be rewarded for having the courage to stand in defiance of a mandate never to see the light of day.
