LaToya Cantrell
A corrupt Democrat New Orleans mayor is one step closer to being ousted.
Organizers working to oust LaToya Cantrell from office recall that they have collected enough signatures to block her from another term.
Fox News reported:
Organizers seeking to recall New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell from office say they have collected enough signatures to jeopardize the city leader’s second term.
“Right now our mayor doesn’t love New Orleans so citizens and residents are standing up,” Eileen Carter, vice president of the No LaToya Reinstatement Campaign, told Fox News. “We’re taking back our city and we’re going to save New Orleans.”
Campaign chairmen Belden Baptiste and Carter launched a recall effort to remove Cantrell from office in August 2022. Organizers delivered a signature-filled petition to the Orleans Parish Registrar of Voters’ office on Wednesday. Organizers say a February 22 deadline of nearly 50,000 signatures has been exceeded.
“Mayor LaToya, we don’t hate you,” Baptiste told Fox News. “You didn’t do your job, and you’re going to be fired.”
Carter, who worked in the mayor’s social media department for three years, told Fox News it was hard to watch Cantrell “quietly leave” in his second term. The mayor’s public calendar included regular meetings with department heads, but according to a local Fox affiliate’s review of public records, he had nothing on his schedule during the month of November.
“It’s like a tale of two mayors,” Carter said. “I don’t think she’s making the best decisions for the city to the point of arrogance.”
Last year LaToya Cantrell came under fire for spending $30,000 in taxpayer money to fly first class to Europe.
Meanwhile, violent crime is on the rise in New Orleans.
Cantrell argued that the first-class flights were for her safety as a black woman and to protect her from Covid.
At a press conference last week, Mayor Cantrell said, “My travel accommodations are a matter of safety, not luxury…. I should be safe because I am doing business on behalf of the city of New Orleans.
Cantrell’s security guard traveled to Europe by coach.
LaToya Cantrell also became a mask-free party after the city of New Orleans imposed a mask mandate.
Democrat hypocrites partisans without masks, while farmers were forced to put on masks.
