An incarcerated serial killer is accused of murdering his child-rapist cellmate within a month of arriving at a California prison.
Pedigree Juan Villanueva, 53, was serving a life sentence with the possibility of parole at North Kern State Prison for aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14.
Unfortunately for Villanueva, he was bunked with Ramon Escobar, 51, who killed five people and wounded seven others during a two-week rampage in California and was jailed for killing his aunt and uncle in Texas in 2018.
All but one of Escobar’s California victims were homeless.
“Prosecutors said Escobar hit the victims with a bolt cutter or baseball bat while they slept in the streets or on the beach,” local station WRAL reported.
Villanueva was unresponsive in his cell during a welfare check at 8:49 a.m. Friday, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. He was declared dead shortly after 9 am

Villanueva was moved to prison on February 2.
“The Kern County Coroner ruled Villanueva’s death a homicide and Escobar was placed in restricted housing while the Jail Investigative Services Unit and the Kern County District Attorney investigate Villanueva’s death,” Fox News reported.
The convicted pedophile’s cause of death was not disclosed at the time of publication.
Escobar is already serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
