A new national poll by McLaughlin & Associates shows that former President Donald Trump would defeat current President Joe Biden if the two went head-to-head in the 2024 election. This marks the 12th month Trump has beaten Biden according to monthly results.

Pollsters told the Washington Examiner this week that “Trump’s 48%-44% lead” signals disaster for the sitting POTUS.

“President Biden is in big trouble. He’s losing to Trump 48%-44% and is very weak in the primary,” pollsters said. The same poll indicated that only 26% of Democrats would commit to Biden if he faced a Democratic primary.

Former President Donald Trump leads President Joe Biden in a potential 2024 runoff, according to a McLaughlin & Associates poll showing 49% would vote for Trump and 44% would vote for Biden. https://t.co/UewXeK7iH8 pic.twitter.com/W2FhDbdnJX

    Not good for Biden

The survey asked respondents how they felt about the nation’s temperature. Voters showed by a 65%-30% margin that the country is headed in a bad direction.

According to the Examiner, “79% say their household finances have been affected by the recession.” Whether it’s inflation, the continuing supply crisis or the conflict in Ukraine, all roads lead to a Biden White House.

This is all the more evident as the poll shows that Biden’s current favorability rating stands at a stagnant 44%, with 52% of respondents having an unfavorable view of him and his administration.

His support in the Democratic base does not show much confidence. Another poll released in early February by the Associated Press-North Center for Public Affairs Research shows that “only 37% of Democrats say they want a second term before the 2022 midterms, down from 52%.”

57% of GOP voters want Trump to be the party’s nominee for a third term, which actually marks a significant drop and is the lowest level of his party’s support in the past two years. However, if he were the 2024 nominee, 76% of Republicans would support him in the general election.

    Big field day by day

Even as the number of contenders in the GOP field continues to widen, Trump still maintains a solid lead. A McLaughlin & Associates poll reiterates this, showing that he will defeat popular Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis “42%-26% among all Republicans.” If Republicans had to choose between DeSantis and Trump today, Trump would win that contest 56% to 38%.

This obviously means things aren’t looking good for other declared and yet-to-be-announced candidates, such as former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley at 6% and likely candidate, former Vice President Mike Pence at 5%.

“In 2016, the political establishment correctly told us that Trump couldn’t win,” McLaughlin said. “Now, they’re going all out because they’re afraid they’ll win.”

He said “Donald Trump still represents America’s heartland of working families, who are exported by the establishment elite. In the last two years, the first two years, America has gone backwards. Inflation is too high, the economy is weak, the border is wide, crime is on the rise and young men and women are dying from fentanyl. Working Americans The middle class is angry.
