Boudreault’s injury occurs with unfortunate timing.
Maxime Boudreault has have withdrawn their roster spots at the upcoming 2023 Arnold Strongman Classic (ASC) and 2023 World’s Strongest Man (WSM) Competitions. Sportsman A He suffered a broken shin bone from a fall The reason behind the movements.
“Falled on ice yesterday and broke small shin bone. Waiting to see surgeon but optimistic.
Boudreault posted an Instagram video on February 23, 2023, revealing the news that his immediate competitive future was put on hold. While giving the update, his partner Samantha Belliveau, the 2021 Canada’s Strongest Woman (CSW) champion, was wheeling the athlete away to tend to her injury.
Baudreault’s withdrawal timeline makes perfect sense from the 2023 ASC scheduled for March 2-5, 2023 in Columbus, OH. It may be too much for a strength-based athlete to put the necessary stress on his body on such a short turn, where he will not fully recover.
The 2023 WSM taking place April 19-23, 2023 — after occurring in late May during the 2022 iteration — is an unfortunate coincidence for Baudreault. In recent years WSM scheduling has often jumped around the calendar (the 2021 competition was held in June and the 2020 competition was held in November), giving an athlete more time to fully heal and be able to compete.
On February 22, 2023, ASC disclosed that Kevin Fares will replace Boudreault on the 2023 ASC roster. At the time of this writing, it is unclear who will take Boudreault’s place at the 2023 WSM.
As for recent competitive results, Boudreault has conquered 2022 Canada’s Strongest Man (CSM) title In August 2022. He finished fifth during the 2022 WSM. To date, Boudreault’s best output in WSM competition is when he stands on the podium in 2021, eclipsed only by the legendary Brian Shaw and now two-time reigning WSM champion Tom Stoltman. For his last ASC, the Canadian competitor scored a sixth-place performance in March 2022.
Nevertheless, before he builds on any of these previous precedents, Baudreault remains on the shelf until further notice.
Boudreault is currently one of the biggest names in strongman and seems to have suffered some unfortunate luck, knocking him out of two major competitions. Seeing him compete again will be worth the wait when he returns to full health.
