Liberal diversity executive exposed by her own mother for lying about her ethnic identity: “White as driven snow”

Remember when we all thought kooky social justice activist Rachel Dolazel was the pinnacle of delusional identity politics? Well, forget her because Raquel Evita Saraswati, a left-wing organization diversity-tenant who claims to be Arab, South Asian and Latina, has been revealed by her own mother to be a white woman of mostly European descent.

Saraswati, born Rachel Elizabeth Seidel, serves as the Chief Equity, Inclusion, and Culture Officer of the American Friends Service Committee, a left-leaning Quaker-based organization that aims to fight “violence, inequality, and oppression.” According to the New York Post, the “Muslim” activist (yes, she claims to be Muslim), has claimed for years to be of mixed ethnic background, convincing her colleagues of her false heritage.

Being white is totally fine! Being white and believing in equality is perfectly fine. I know plenty of good people who do it every day.

Meet Rachel

Carol Perrone, mother of Racist Phony, spoke to The Intercept about her daughter’s true heritage.

“I call her Rachel,” said Perron, “I don’t know why she does. I’m white as driven snow, and so is she.

“I’m German and British, and her father is Calabrese Italian. She has chosen to live a lie and I am so sad.

According to Peron, her daughter chose to become a Muslim when she was in high school, and that’s when the misrepresentation of being from a different ethnic background began.

Pictures of Saraswati as a child show a completely different person, a more tanned man who portrays himself as a white man. Images Perrone provided to The Intercept, including her Ancestry.com profile, show a fair-skinned child with a light complexion.

Oscar Pierre Castro, one of the men who hired Saraswati, initially described her as a “queer, Muslim, multiracial woman”.

According to Castro, “In my mind it was, ‘Great, a person of color, a queer person of color, a Muslim, it’s a woman,’ all these things, and somebody seemed to get it.”

Yes, that’s right, Saraswati has essentially created a perfect intersectional ‘victim’ identity that should probably have gone to anyone who was a genuine ethnic or social minority.

“I definitely feel the pinch,” Castro said, “I feel cheated.”

Caught white handed

A representative of Saraswati’s employer, Layne Mullett, told reporters that Saraswati “stands by her identity. Raquel assures us that she remains true to AFSC’s mission, which we firmly believe in.

“AFSC does not require any employee to prove their heritage as a condition of their employment,” Mullett added, “or to be valued as a member of our team.”

However, some unnamed colleagues are concerned that Saraswati may have an ulterior motive and may be planted by a rival group to sabotage their efforts.

After the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, Saraswati appeared in conservative news outlets claiming to be a “moderate” Muslim, the Intercept says, after a colleague put out an anonymous blog post in the media.

“We hope this will catalyze further truth-telling and accountability,” the letter said. It demanded that the AFSC investigate whether there were “external entities in collusion with Saraswati” or not.

An official who spoke to The Intercept on condition of anonymity expressed this concern.

“Imagine the shock of the people who trusted her, trusted her and shared sensitive information about her work and her life, assuming she was a fellow of color,” he said. “And now all of a sudden, this is a white woman with a history of the right wing. It’s scary.”

Saraswati made a statement on her Facebook page and the news started breaking.

“I promise people that as soon as I am able, I will give answers to the recent discussion and attacks on me,” he said. “I understand all the feedback you’ve had. I’m currently taking the time to get to a place where I can answer in a more helpful and thorough manner.
