The Project Veritas board of directors released a statement after O’Keefe was ousted.
“Today, James O’Keefe has decided to remove his belongings from Project Veritas headquarters,” the board said in a statement. “The board and management have made several attempts to have a conversation with James over the past 14 days, but he has ignored our lobbying and instead decided to leak private information to others, either by doing so or by proxy.”
The board said, “While the PV leadership has not concluded the full extent of the financial problems over the years, a preliminary review at this time indicates that James has spent large sums of donor funds on personal luxuries over the past three years. More is being revealed during the ongoing review. Contrary to many reports today, a third-party investigative audit report James has been suspended indefinitely pending a full investigation and clarity determination to be provided.
