The former child actor ran for West Hollywood’s city council last year but lost.
On his campaign website for his City Council run, Savage said he has lived in West Hollywood for 18 years and believes residents deserve “sensible, honest and strong leadership” to tackle the city’s problems.
“In recent years, people have become disillusioned with the direction the city is heading,” the campaign website says. “Residents and community leaders are frustrated by political fragmentation and the loss of a sense of community. People are desperate for leaders who can talk to each other, build coalitions, work together on common-sense policies, and put the interests of the city and residents above their own.
“We need to restore faith in city government by offering reasonable, innovative and compassionate solutions to the city’s most pressing problems. We need to increase and expand access to all the great opportunities West Hollywood has to offer by ensuring that every member of the community has the tools they need to succeed,” Savage continued.
Under the website’s “priorities” tab, Savage wrote that she is “looking forward to raising a family in this historic community that values and celebrates diversity and differences.”
According to TMZ’s report, Savage is “throwing his hat in the ring for a soon-to-be-vacated seat in the US House of Representatives — Rep. Adam Schiff’s run for Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s Senate seat, which is widely expected to happen in the near future.”
“Of course, this comes just months after Ben tried his hand at more local politics — in November, he ran for LA City Council, but lost … finishing 7th with just 6.3% of the vote,” TMZ reported.
