The White House issued a scathing statement Wednesday about the naming of America First Republicans to the House Oversight Committee, a sure sign that the administration is concerned about potential investigations.
Political Insider reported earlier this week that conservative Reps. Marjorie Taylor Green (GA) and Paul Gosar (AZ) were reinstated to committee assignments and named to sit on the Oversight Committee.
Representatives Lauren Bobert of Colorado and Scott Perry of Pennsylvania were also named to the committee.
White House spokesman Ian Sams issued a statement condemning the inclusion of MAGA lawmakers.
“Chairman Comer once said ensuring the committee’s work is ‘credible,’ yet Republicans are handing the keys to oversight to the most extreme MAGA members of the Republican caucus who promote violent rhetoric and dangerous conspiracy theories,” he raged.
Think they’re scared?

A statement from the White House provides links to examples of alleged “extremism” by MAGA members.
- Green’s, related to his controversial remarks before becoming a member of Congress, in which he accused Nancy Pelosi of treason, “punishable by death”. Please โ do you know how many times Donald Trump and his supporters have been accused of treason?
- Regarding Gosar, he linked to an article about him posting a parody cartoon showing an anime version of him attacking President Biden and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Please – no serious person took this as a serious threat. Because it was a Japanese cartoon. with swords.
- As for Perry, he points to the Jan. 6 report by the Select Committee rejecting the subpoena. Please โ as we recently learned from Adam Schiff, subpoenas are optional.
- As for Bobert, her biggest transgression as an ‘extremist’ was to downplay the capital riots. Please – Although the riots are due for National Day of Remembrance at the White House, most Americans are already over it.
Boil it down, and the White House examples of Republican ‘extremists’ on the Oversight Committee are pretty tame.
It’s funny to hear him attack the ‘credibility’ of the House Oversight Committee when we should be taking seriously the efforts of the highly partisan January 6th Committee.
Phone lease.

‘Joe Biden, Get Ready’
So, why is the White House seemingly aloof about the addition of conservative Republican lawmakers to the oversight committee?
As CNN writes, “The addition of hardliners gives the Biden administration the ability to frame some of the most aggressive investigations.”
On cue, President Green issued a statement suggesting a better buckle up.
“Joe Biden, get ready,” he wrote. “We are going to expose every corrupt business transaction, every foreign complicity, every abuse of power and every check cut for The Big Guy.”
