Colorado’s Democrat governor, Jared Polis, has announced an end to plans to send illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities like Chicago and New York City.
The move comes after a few hundred people were actually evacuated and a letter from mayors Lori Lightfoot and Eric Adams expressing outrage over the strategy.
The Political Insider reported on the police plan last week.
“People fleeing violence and oppression for a better life for themselves and their families deserve our respect, not political games, and we are grateful to help migrants reach their final destination,” he said of the program.
“We refuse to hold people against their will if they want to travel elsewhere.”

Colorado will stop sending illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities
A few days later and the police seemingly pulled the plug on a strongly-worded letter and conversation with Lightfoot and Adams.

Once they refused to ‘hold people against their will,’ they are now free to do so.
“We’ve seen your statements in the media that you want immigrants to come to cities like New York City and Chicago,” the two left-leaning Democrats wrote.
“However, you are sending immigrants and families to New York City and Chicago who have no relationships, family members or community networks to welcome them.”
NEW: Sanctuary city mayors Eric Adams (NYC) and Lori Lightfoot (Chicago) have sent a letter to Colorado’s Democrat governor, Jared Polis, urging them to stop and quit busing immigrants to their cities, adding that their services are “exhausted.” By buses from Texas.

What a ridiculous argument. Do they have more ‘relationships, family members or community networks’ to welcome them to Colorado? Do they have them in any state they happen to cross into illegally?
Adams lamented that the police move to transport illegal immigrants from Colorado to cities that have previously expressed their love and support is as bad as Republican governors in other states doing the same.
“One time we had to deal with Republican governors sending immigrants to New York. Now we’re dealing with Democratic governors sending immigrants to New York,” the New York City mayor said last week.
“It’s sad how neglected we are as a city,” he said. “And now I have to make tough decisions on New York’s resources … It’s time for the federal government to step in.”
It’s a far cry from what Adams was singing not so long ago.
“We must protect our immigrants.” duration

He claimed that Lightfoot and Adams were no longer welcoming mayors
Adams is not the only hypocrite in this equation. Lightfoot was also a tough-talking sanctuary advocate in Trump’s days, only to be slapped in the face with reality when illegal immigrants began to overwhelm the city’s resources.
“We are a sanctuary city. We have immigrants from all over the world who call Chicago their home,” he previously said.
“They will continue to do that, and we will continue to make sure that this is truly a welcoming community for those immigrants and we want them to come to the city of Chicago.”

News flash – he doesn’t want to come to Chicago anymore.
Why? That’s because the letter to police comes “at a time when both cities are at maximum capacity in terms of shelter space and available services.”
Strange, we didn’t know that these cities were ‘sanctuaries’ only for a few times.
Border states and cities won’t get the option to limit who comes in and when, as the Biden administration has kept the borders open since day one of his first term.
“Adams and Lightfoot are sending in police immigrants because they want to go … literally meeting their travel needs and forcing the mayors of these blue cities to say no to these people and force them to stay in Colorado.” https://t.co/nghyTSkBdP

Police tell CNN that the last busload of illegal immigrants arrived in New York City from Colorado on Sunday, but others were not bound for Chicago.
