A small act of humanity has made an Indian a firm friend.
About a year ago, Mohammad Arif found an injured Saras crane in his farm in Uttar Pradesh state. He took the bird home and nursed it back to health with home remedies and lots of care.
They thought the crane would return to the forest after its wounds healed, but instead, it stayed put and the two developed a warm friendship. Crane rarely leaves his side now.
“It flies away some days, but always returns by sunset,” says Mr Arif. “Friendship thrives on freedom.”
