With the 2024 presidential election still a long way off, but frenziedly close to political junkies, it’s time for conservatives to start panicking about what Republican Party politicians need for citizens. And out of that fear comes a revolutionary idea: the conservative case for letting Democrats elect GOP candidates.
On February 20, The New York Times Chris Sununu, the Republican governor of New Hampshire, published a glowing profile. “Chris Sununu Sees GOP’s ‘Normal’ Lane in 2024. Does It Exist?” Worried about the headline.
Fortunately, the caption answered the question, assuring the outlet with Sunu’s pull quote, “I’m conservative. . . . “I am not just an extremist,” he said. Conservatives everywhere may be happy to hear this.

Respect and civility
Chris Sununu exudes politeness; Someone who wins the respect of citizens and Democrats. That’s what conservatives want. Even if opposed to a standout like Joe Biden, precious moderates will definitely have to consider voting for candidates like him.
Biden, of course, is the standard bearer of civility, decorum and statesmanship. Just ask Biden himself. Or any journalist. Or any politician. (Republicans in particular are always eager to praise Democrats.) Or ask anyone in the administration for that matter.
To run against such a high-quality candidate, the GOP must choose a high-quality candidate of its own. Again, there can be no higher standard than a candidate that Democrats respect.

Right-wing candidates are not acceptable
For those who are still not convinced that someone like Chris Sununu is perfect The Times Expands how great he believes he is. “After three consecutive disappointing election cycles for his party, Mr. Sununu says time has passed for Mr. Trump’s illusions,” the article reads. cheater More educated readers.
“The nation, including many Republicans, has little interest in the right-wing candidates supported by the former president, he argues,” the article adds. Partially correct. Right-wing candidates—those who oppose the Democrats—are unacceptable.
So if conservatives and Republicans ever want to be considered civil and serious, they should give Democrats a chance. The New York Times– Tell them which candidates of their party are civil and serious. This is a perfectly reasonable position and everyone can definitely agree with it.

Anyone who elects the GOP is too extreme
Readers of the article go on to say, “Even nominating a onetime Trump acolyte from a prospective 2024 field like Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis or former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley is a misread of the moment.” So for all the conservatives who are trembling for DeSantis, he is unacceptable to the honorable people. In fact, DeSantis is worse than Trump.
Still later the The Times Sununu is described as a “Seinfeld”-quoting, Covid-boosting guy. That’s the perfect Republican candidate. Everyone can get behind the GOP nominee who likes the old television series where the character is Jab Number Nine and scorns everyone who votes Republican.
And if all this wasn’t enough, the article notes that Sununu is “road-testing the message of de-mega-fied conservatism” and that he is “pro-choice.” Again, this is what the GOP wants and what all decent people in America want.
Give cruelty but demand decency? Doesn’t work that way. I’m sorry this happened but reflect on your actions and rhetoric. https://t.co/1tu7GdqSb7

Democrats know better
Bringing civility, respectability, and some decorum back to politics. Chris Sununu has it all—he’s a Republican candidate that Democrats can endorse. And if not him, Democrats can certainly find someone else.
The idea that Republicans can continue to nominate their own candidates is absurd. This upsets Democrats and leads to political nastiness and vulgarity. And as conservatives and the GOP constantly seek to find common ground and civility, they must be the ones to bring about the change they so desperately want.
Thus, the conservative case for letting Democrats pick GOP candidates who lose respectably is not just idle advice, it’s a solution that conservatives and Republicans must implement.
