On January 15, Madison Brooks was standing in the middle of the road on Burbank Drive around 3 a.m. when a driver struck her and killed her.
Brooks was reportedly drunk and slurring her words when she was seen leaving Reggie’s Bar near the LSU campus, according to an arrest warrant.
One of the male suspects told investigators Madison Brooks was “very unsteady on her feet, unable to keep her balance and unable to speak clearly without slurring her words” as she exited the bar.
Cassen Carver told investigators that Madison Brooks asked her for a ride home and agreed to have sex with her.
Madison Brooks was then taken down, where she was hit by a car and later died at the hospital.
WSAZ reports:
Deputies charged Kyvon Deondre Washington, 18, of Walker, and two unidentified juveniles with third-degree rape. A minor is 17 years old.
Everett Lee, 28, of Pine Grove, and Casen Carver, 18, of Denham Springs, are both charged with third-degree statutory rape.
Investigators said Carver admitted he and three other men went to Reggie’s Bar near the LSU campus and drank alcohol, the arrest warrant states.
Brooks left the bar with him and was “extremely unsteady on her feet, unable to maintain her balance and unable to speak clearly without slurring her words,” the arrest document states. Carver told investigators that his 17-year-old friend and Brooks were “hugging and walking together.”
Investigators said Carver said Brooks asked him to give him a ride home. Washington and the 17-year-old detectives asked Brooks to have sex with them and she agreed, the warrant states.
Carver told investigators he believed Brooks was too drunk to know he was consenting to sex, and that he “hated it,” the warrant states.
Brooks was standing on a dark side of Burbank Drive near Pelican Lakes Parkway around 3 a.m. Jan. 15 when she was struck by a vehicle driven by a ride-share driver. Brooks later died at the hospital.
According to deputies, the driver of the vehicle that hit her did not show any signs or evidence of being impaired.
