    Circle Back: Updates on what happened to the DOD diversity chief and other stories of military awakening

    I enjoy the new year and it is an exciting start to 2023. We all watched with fascination (or boredom) as Congressman Kevin McCarthy had to negotiate and debate with his fellow Republicans to receive his long-coveted speaker’s gavel.

    Now our elected representatives can work with all the legislation and oversight they talk about so often.

    Even worse in accountability and transparency is the five-sided building of long-forgotten reports and investigations known as the Pentagon. So let’s take a spell to examine what happened to some of the previously so-called War Department’s greatest wok hits of 2022.

    The Sheer Cadacity

    I’m old enough to remember when computer science was a very rewarding field to get into; Everyone was hiring computer scientists and my dumb ass decided to study political science. If I only had a crystal ball, I’d know that ultimately, the most prevalent job title with the highest probability of a six-figure salary is chief of diversity.

    The Pentagon was in hot water with Congress when it was discovered that the Department of Defense Education Activity’s diversity chief had some… questionable views.

    Chief of Diversity Kelisa Wing tweeted at one point:

    “I’m tired of these white foxes [professional development] Periods. This woman actually had the audacity to say that black people can be racist too…I had to stop the session and give Karen the business…we are not the majority, we have no power.

    The woman, who holds an influential position in the DOD sector “providing support and resources to local educational agencies across the United States serving children of military families,” was discovered to have written several divisive children’s books. What does it mean to pay back the police?

    So in September, DOD asked Ms. He announced that he would conduct a 30-day review of the Wing’s actions and report his findings to Congress. Yet, here we are, four months later, with no report.

    Surprisingly only one representative seems interested in the inventions.

    Congresswoman Elise Stefanik recently said of the Pentagon’s apparent investigation:

    “…trying to shamefully cover up their radical vigilante agenda.”

    I believe that the DOD is not open about all of their fundamental wake-up agenda initiatives.

    Vocational Academies

    Speaking of education, let’s take a tour of some of the most respected institutions of higher education. First, we visit the iconic United States Air Force Academy where flyboys were born.

    It was discovered that the Air Force Academy had revamped its curriculum to avoid “gendered language”. So what is gender language on earth?

    According to the academy, this includes telling cadets and professors to avoid controversial terms like ‘mom’ and ‘dad’. I’m curious as to what the highly paid diversity consultants came up with as an alternative.

    Perhaps instead of being a mother, I am ‘a vessel in which to incubate life, but only if I choose.’ Instead of being a father, my husband is the ‘chromosome provider to the incubator’. How romantic.

    Meanwhile, two lectures on the docket last year at West Point were ‘White Power at West Point’ and ‘Understanding Whiteness and White Rage’. I bet that last one made Papa Millie proud; Perhaps they can rest easy at night knowing that our country’s future generals will be well versed in white rage.

    Moving forward, erasing the past

    As many of you know I recently retired from the military after 20 years of service. I will be the first to admit that there is quite a bit of racism and sexism in the military.

    No doubt it’s better now than it was in my parents’ day and age, but there’s still a lot of work to be done. You know what doesn’t solve rampant racism and sexism in the military?

    Renaming of Military Installations. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has approved the renaming of nine Army installations to include the iconic Fort Bragg, home of the 82nd Airborne.

    It doesn’t matter that the preponderance of soldiers at these installations has no clue of the history of the base’s name, or that veterans and soldiers form a special bond over these old names. For example, if an Army veteran says they’re in Bragg, you’ll know right away they’re probably Airborne, whereas if stationed in Benning, you’re Infantry.

    Let the senior culture be threatened! Better to shell out $21 million to rename these bases in the name of anti-racism.

    and General Robert E. at West Point. We cannot talk about erasing history without mentioning the removal of everything related to Lee.

    General Lee was one of the superintendents of West Point and was widely regarded as a brilliant military mind.

    Unfortunately, the only point the DOD decided to focus on was his position as the leader of the Confederate Army.

    Big rocks to move

    The world is getting tense and small. Our proxy war in Ukraine could easily drag us from a cold to a hot war. But, on the other hand, China’s watchful eye and eagerness to swallow Taiwan threatens to drag us into a devastating world war.

    Now is not a good time to have recruitment issues, yet we do. The Secretary of the Army, Christine Wermuth, issued a warning about the DOD’s absurd alienation of Americans:

    “When only 9% of children are interested in serving, we must ensure that we are careful not to turn a broad swath of the American public away from the military.”

    I will not be too eager for my children to follow in my footsteps and raise their right hand to protect and defend the Constitution. By the time they reach that age, little of the constitution can be left to protect and defend.

    There is little left.

    Perhaps in 2023 the military should focus on addressing their recruiting problems, the suicide epidemic within the ranks, the alarmingly high rates of sexual harassment and assault in the military, and the overall lack of accountability for the poor treatment of service members.

    Oh, and tell us, what happened to the DOD diversity chief who violated the DOD’s zero tolerance rule for racism?
