Day One: Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders bans the word ‘Latin X’ from government documents

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has banned the word ‘Latin X’ from official state government documents, signing an executive order on her first day in office.

The order states that the use of the letter ‘x’ negates the gender and misnomers the word.

“The Real Academia Española, the Madrid-based body that governs the Spanish language, has officially rejected the use of ‘x’ as a substitute for ‘o’ and ‘a’ in Spanish,” it reads.

“Gender cannot be removed from Spanish and other Romance languages ​​any more easily than vowels and verbs can be removed from English,” the order continues.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders Drops ‘Latin X’ Term

Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ ‘Latin X’ order is one of seven executive orders signed by the governor immediately after taking office.

Other issues include banning the use of TikTok on government devices and a review of the teaching of critical race theory in Arkansas schools.

Sanders made history earlier this week as The Natural State’s first female governor. At the age of 40, he is the youngest governor in the country.

He believes his election is a mandate to implement conservative policies in Arkansas.

“I think there’s a real appetite, not only from the public, but also from the Legislature here, where we have Republican super-majorities in the House and Senate, to do some big things and pass some conservative reforms,” ​​he told Fox News.

Latin-axed

The move to ban the word ‘Latinx’ is not a conservative reform, it is a common-sense reform.

A 2020 survey indicates that only 3% of the Hispanic population uses the term. Seventy-six percent of Latinos had never heard the term, according to the same survey.

Still, liberals and the media will no doubt cast Sanders as a racist for daring to remove stupidity from government correspondence.

But there is a history here. Representative Ruben Gallego, chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, also banned the term in his office years ago.

“To be clear my office does not allow the use of ‘Latin’ in official communications,” Gallego said. “When Latino politicians use the term, it’s often used to appease white affluent progressives who think it’s the word we use.”

Sarah Huckabee Sanders was a key supporter of former President Donald Trump, for whom she worked as White House press secretary. In fact, he suggested running for governor of Arkansas in the first place.
